Steroid abuse has become an increasingly common phenomenon. The drug had great potential due to their accumulation of proteins, but their use by physicians was quite limited. Thus, anabolic steroids are used more than bodybuilders, weightlifters and other athletes, men or women.
Anabolic steroids are used because of their ability to improve an athletes performance by increasing muscle mass and decrease body fat. Use of such substances is illegal and athletes are tested before the competitions.
Medical purposes, steroids are used to treat delayed puberty, impotence, muscle loss due to HIV, some types of anemia, osteoporosis and for itching caused by a liver disease called biliary obstruction.
