Accuretic is used in the treatment of high blood pressure also known as hypertension. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This product contains two medications, quinapril and hydrochlorothiazide.
Quinapril belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Hydrochlorothiazide (or The thiazide diuretic) increases the amount of urine you make, removing extra water and salt from your body. These two medications are used together when one drug is not controlling your blood pressure. This medication may also be used to treat congestive heart failure. ...
Side Effect:
Serious side effect may include:eye pain, vision problems; high potassium (slow heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness, tingly feeling); low potassium, confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort; dry mouth, thirst, nausea, vomiting; feeling weak, drowsy, restless, or light-headed; a red, blistering, peeling skin rash; jaundice; urinating less than usual or not at all; swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath; or fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms.
Less serious side effects may include:cough; dizziness, headache, tired feeling; muscle or back pain; runny nose; sleep problems (insomnia); diarrhea, constipation, upset stomach; or mild skin rash, increased sweating.
Seek immediate medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction:hives; severe stomach pain; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. ...
Precaution:
Prior to taking the medicine inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to either quinapril or hydrochlorothiazide; or to other ACE inhibitors (e. g. , captopril, lisinopril); or to other thiazides; or if you have any other allergies.
This drug cam make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages as well.
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking this medication. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths, and sunlamps.
If you have diabetes, hydrochlorothiazide may affect your blood sugar levels. Your doctor may need to adjust your anti-diabetic medication or diet.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to use this medicine without your doctor's advice. ...
