Anturane/sulfinpyrazone inhibits thrombotic processes that are associated with platelet adhesion, aggregation and reduced platelet survival. Sulfinpyrazone reduces serum urate levels, prevents formation of new tophi, and promotes resorption of existing tophi by increasing clearance of uric acid and water through the kidneys.

Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, epigastric pain, shortness of breath. Nausea, heartburn, dizziness, and ringing in the ears may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you, remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. Also, alcohol may increase the amount of uric acid in your blood. Do not drink alcohol while taking sulfinpyrazone before checking with your doctor.
