Desc:
Anturane/sulfinpyrazone inhibits thrombotic processes that are associated with platelet adhesion, aggregation and reduced platelet survival. Sulfinpyrazone reduces serum urate levels, prevents formation of new tophi, and promotes resorption of existing tophi by increasing clearance of uric acid and water through the kidneys.
Take this medication by mouth, usually twice daily or as directed by your doctor. Take it with food, milk, or antacids to reduce stomach upset. ...
Side Effect:
Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, epigastric pain, shortness of breath. Nausea, heartburn, dizziness, and ringing in the ears may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur:lower back pain, swelling of the arms/legs/feet, difficult/painful urination, change in amount/color of urine. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur:easy bruising/bleeding, bloody/black/tarry stools, fast/irregular heartbeat, signs of infection (e. g. , fever, sore throat), severe stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, unusual tiredness.
Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including:rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. Precaution:
Before using this medicine inform your doctor if you are allergic to sulfinpyrazone or if you have other allergies. Tell your doctor if you are using other medicine and if you have or ever have had any of the following conditions:kidney disease, colitis, or stomach problems.
Before taking Anturane tell your health care provider what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially anticoagulants such as warfarin, acetaminophen, aspirin or products that contain aspirin, cholestyramine, diuretics, niacin, theophylline, tolbutamide, verapamil and vitamins.
You should know that this drug may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you, remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. Also, alcohol may increase the amount of uric acid in your blood. Do not drink alcohol while taking sulfinpyrazone before checking with your doctor.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to use this medicine without your doctor's advice. ...
