Desc:

Axid contains nizatidine, which is in a group of drugs called histamine-2 blockers. Nizatidine works by decreasing the amount of acid the stomach produces and is used to treat ulcers of the stomach and intestines and prevent them from coming back after they have healed. Nizatidine also treats heartburn and erosive esophagitis caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Take Axid exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. ...

Side Effect:

As with any medicine, side effects can occur. The most common and less serious include:headache, dizziness; mild rash; diarrhea; or runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough.

More rare, but serious side effects, which need medical help as the appear are:an allergic reaction - difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives; pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating; unusual bleeding, purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin; skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; fever, confusion; or jaundice. ...

Precaution:

Before using this medicine inform your doctor if you are allergic to nizatidine, to other drugs, or if you have any other allergies. Tell your doctor if you are using other medicine and if you have or ever have had any of the following conditions:immune system problems, kidney problems, liver problems, certain lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-COPD, diabetes, other stomach problems like tumors.

Because Axid can cause dizziness and drowsiness, do not drive and use heavy machinery until you are sure you can perform this activity safely.
