Bezafibrate tablets belong to a group of medicines called lipid-regulating drugs, which lower high levels of cholesterol and other fats (lipids) in the blood (hyperlipidaemia). Bezalip should be employed only in patients with a fully defined and diagnosed lipid abnormality which is inadequately controlled by dietary means, or by other changes in life-style such as physical exercise and weight reduction, and in whom the long-term risks associated with the condition warrant treatment.

The rationale for the use of Bezafibrate is to control abnormalities of serum lipids and lipoproteins to reduce or prevent the long term effects which have been shown by many epidemiological studies to be positively and strongly correlated with such hyperlipidaemias. ...


Side Effect:

You may experience one of the following side effects:stomach upset, stomach pain, gas, or nausea may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. Itchy skin, redness, headache, and dizziness have also been reported. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.

Notify your doctor if you develop:muscle aches/pains, muscle weakness, chest pain, unusual weakness, skin rash, vomiting. ...


Precaution:

Do not take Bezafibrate tablets and tell your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to bezafibrate or any of the other ingredients in the tablets; are allergic (hypersensitive) to fibrates or have developed a sensitivity to sunlight or artificial light (e. g. sunbeds) when taking

these medicines; are taking statins (e. g. atorvastatin) and have an increased the risk of you developing muscle disease (weakness, wasting and pain); are having dialysis; have liver disease; have gall bladder disease; have nephrotic syndrome (a kidney disorder); have severely impaired kidney function.
