Bumetanide is indicated whenever diuretic therapy is required in the treatment of edema, e. g. that associated with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver and renal disease including the nephrotic syndrome.

For those edematous conditions where a prompt diuresis is required, Bumetanide may be used, e. g. acute pulmonary edema, acute and chronic renal failure. ...


Side Effect:

Signs of an allergic reaction:hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. In this case medical help is needed immediately.

Stop using bumetanide and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:dry mouth, thirst, nausea, vomiting; feeling weak, drowsy, restless, or light-headed; fast or uneven heartbeat; muscle pain or weakness; easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; or hearing loss.

Less serious side effects may include:mild nausea or stomach pain; headache; dizziness; or mild itching or skin rash. ...

Before taking bumetanide make sure to inform your doctor about the following:if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding; if you have kidney problems, or are dehydrated; if you have prostate or liver problems; if you have gout or diabetes; if you have Addison's disease (a problem of the adrenal glands) or systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE); if you suffer from hypotension (low blood pressure); if you have been told you have low levels of sodium (salt) or potassium in your blood, or if you are on a low salt diet; if you have been told you have high levels of calcium in your blood; if you are taking other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal or complementary medicines; if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine. ...
