Desc:
Calcimar/calcitonin is indicated in the treatment of Paget's Disease of the bone. Calcimar is also indicated for early treatment of hypercalcemic emergencies, along with other appropriate agents, when a rapid decrease in serum calcium is required, until more specific treatment of the underlying disease can be accomplished. It may also be added to existing therapeutic regimens for hypercalcemia such as intravenous fluids and furosemide, oral phosphate or corticosteroids, or other agents.
It may be used in patients with azotemia and those with limited cardiac reserve in whom intravenous fluids may be contraindicated. ...
Side Effect:
Nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, or flushing may occur. Using this medication at bedtime may help to decrease these side effects. Swelling/redness at injection site, a salty taste in mouth, increased urination, or loss of appetite may also occur.
