Abilify is used to treat adults who suffer from mental illness following:schizophrenia, mental illness which has many symptoms, including disorders of thought and speech, hallucinations (hearing or seeing things that are not there), suspiciousness and delusions (false); type I bipolar disorder, a mental illness in which patients have manic episodes (periods of abnormally good mood) alternating with periods of normal mood. Patients may also have episodes of depression. Abilify is used to treat moderate to severe manic episodes and to prevent manic episodes in patients who previously responded to this drug.
Solution for injection is used for rapid control of the state of agitation or deviant behavior, when oral administration of the drug is not appropriate. ...
Side Effect:
The most common side effects associated with oral Abilify are extrapyramidal disorder (uncontrolled spasms and contractions), akathisia (constant need for movement), tremor (shaking), somnolence (sleepiness ), sedation (sleepiness), headache, blurred vision, dyspepsia (heartburn), vomiting, nausea (feeling sick), constipation, salivary hypersecretion (increased production of saliva), fatigue (weakness), restlessness, insomnia (difficulty sleeping) and anxiety.
Akathisia is more common in patients with bipolar disorder than in those with schizophrenia. Other side effects from treatment with Abilify include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, akathisia, nausea and vomiting. ...
Precaution:
Before treatment with Abilify, tell your doctor if you have:high concentration of sugar in blood or family history of diabetes; seizures; involuntary muscle movements or irregular, especially in the face; cardiovascular disease, family history of cardiovascular disease, stroke or transient ischemic attack, blood pressure, abnormal blood; blood clots or family history of blood clots, because antipsychotics have been associated with blood clots. If you notice increased weight, experienced difficulty in swallowing or allergic symptoms, tell your doctor varugam.
If you are age and dementia (loss of memory and other mental abilities), or your carer/relative should tell your doctor if you ever had a stroke or transient ischemic attack.
