Albalon/naphazoline is used as a topical ocular vasoconstrictor. Albalon/naphazoline is a decongestant used to relieve redness, puffiness, and itchy/watering eyes due to colds, allergies, or eye irritations (smog, swimming, or wearing contact lenses).
It is known as a sympathomimetic (alpha receptor agonist) that works in the eye to decrease congestion. Some brands of naphazoline eye drops also contain other ingredients such as lubricants (glycerin, hypromellose, or polyethylene glycol 300) that help protect the eyes from more irritation. Zinc sulfate, an astringent, helps reduce redness and irritation. ...
Side Effect:
Stinging, redness, widened pupils, or blurred vision may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur:dizziness, nausea, sweating, drowsiness, weakness, nervousness, worsening redness/itching/swelling in or around the eyes. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur:eye pain, other vision problems, headache, decrease in body temperature, irregular heartbeat.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction:rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. ...
Precaution:
Before using Albalon, tell your healthcare provider if you are allergic to naphazoline or if you have any other allergies.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:heart problems (e. g. , high blood pressure), glaucoma, diabetes, eye infection/injury, overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
After you apply this drug, your vision may become temporarily blurred. This drug may also make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness or clear vision until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.
Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially severe drowsiness and severely decreased body temperature.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended to use this medicine without your doctor's advice. ...
