Alcaftadine ophthalmic drops is used to prevent itching of the eye caused by a condition known as allergic conjunctivitis or pink eye. It works by preventing the effects of certain inflammatory substances, called histamine, which are produced by cells in your eyes and sometimes cause allergic symptoms.

Ophthalmic alcaftadine comes as a solution (liquid) to instill in the affected eye(s) once a day. If you are wearing contact lenses, remove them before putting the drops in your eyes and wait at least 10 minutes after using this medicine before putting your contact lenses back in. ...


Side Effect:

Alcaftadine eye drops may cause side effects. Inform your doctor if any of these symptoms are persistent or get worse:eye irritation; itching, burning, or stinging of the eye; eye redness; runny nose; headache.

Less common side effects that need immediately medical help include:chills, cough, diarrhea, fever, general feeling of discomfort or illness, headache, joint pain, loss of appetite, muscle aches and pains, nausea, runny nose, shivering, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, sweating, trouble sleeping, unusual tiredness or weakness and vomiting. ...
