Description

Stomach cramps are a nonspecific symptom that is used to refer to a number of different conditions or sensations. Usually stomachache or abdominal cramps is considered by patients as any pain that is felt anywhere in the abdominal area. Due to this, the possible causes can vary.

The list of organs of the abdomen includes: the stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas, and problems or diseases of all of these organs may be the source of pain. Occasionally, pain may be felt in the abdomen even though it is arising from organs that are close to, but not within, the abdominal cavity, such as conditions involving the lower lungs, kidneys, uterus, or ovaries.

Causes

A person can acquire muscle cramps that occur in the abdominal muscles from squats and abdominal exercises. This answer is not always clear, because the cause of the cramping of the skeletal muscle is not definitive.

Abdominal or stomach cramps can be caused by many other conditions, such as: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Appendicitis, Colitis, Constipation, Crohn's Disease, E. Coli, Food Allergy, Food Poisoning, Indigestion, Menstrual Cramps, Ulcerative Colitis etc.

Diagnosis and Treatment

When the cramps occur, the person must be positioned flat on the back or stand with the back straight, and reach the arms over the head until the cramping is removed. If the cramps continue, then the physician should be consulted. The internal cramps as a stomach pain may be due to the food or drinks that are consumed before exercise.
