Description

Hyperactivity is a state of excessive activity that can manifest as restlessness, nervousness, or excessive movement. Often is accompanied by difficulty concentrating or focusing on a task, too much talking, or difficulty staying quiet at school or workplace.

Causes

The condition characteristic associated with hyperactivity and difficulty concentrating is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a condition that has been increasingly diagnosed in children and adults in recent years. Rare conditions affecting the brain, emotional problems, certain medications and drugs, and endocrine disorders can also affect daily activities and can sometimes lead to hyperactivity.
