Lower Abdominal Pain
Abdomen | Urology | Lower Abdominal Pain (Symptom)
Description
Lower abdominal pain is a discomfort or annoying sensation rising or occurring in the abdomen at a level below the belly button or umbilicus. It is a common problem, especially in women, because of the presence of the womb, tubes and ovaries in this region of the abdomen, in addition to the other organs found in men.
Causes
Pain in the lower abdominal area may be caused by various reasons and be attributable to a number of underlying diseases. Some causes of this pain may be temporary discomfort, but others may require medical intervention.
Very often, women feel pain in your lower abdomen when having their period. This is not a cause for alarm, since it is a common complaint that can be solved with a general analgesic on the counter.
However, abdominal pain is caused not only by the simple things. Pain in lower abdomen could be a sign of another more serious condition such as appendicitis, bladder problems or kidney disease related to the kidney.
