Description

Perceived pain in the pelvic area is located in the lower abdomen, between the hip bones. Pelvic pain is the term most commonly used to refer to pain arising from the reproductive organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and vagina) in women.

Causes

In this sense, pelvic pain can have many causes, including menstrual cramps, pain from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cyst or other mass, endometriosis and pelvic inflammatory disease. The gynaecologic sources of pelvic pain may include urinary tract infections, bowel obstruction, colitis, appendicitis, tumours, or a number of other conditions.
