Redness in Hands

Hands | Dermatology | Redness in Hands (Symptom)

A rash of red, itchy hands may be quite painful. Itching is very annoying and distracting, and its location in the hands means that the skin is constantly exposed.

A number of things can cause a rash on the hands. A rash commonly occurs from exposure to certain allergens or chemicals, a condition called contact dermatitis. Most rashes are not serious and easily treatable, but a doctor should be consulted if the rash does not disappear after a day or two, or does not respond to home treatment.

Dermatitis is a skin disease characterized by itchy, red rashes on the hands, neck or other parts of the body. Dermatitis, also called eczema, can be acute or chronic and the result of any contact or exposure to an allergen or irritant.
