Feet | Podiatry - Podiatric Medicine | Swelling of Feet (Symptom)
Description
Swelling of the feet is a condition where the muscles of the feet have an excessive accumulation of fluid.
Causes
The accumulation of fluid can lead to rapid weight gain during a short period of time. Mild inflammation of the lower extremities is common in summer months. Slight swelling is more likely if the person has been standing or walking a lot. Consulting a doctor is mandatory if there is persistent swelling, swelling accompanied by shortness of breath and weight gain or swelling that damages the skin or if there are specific medical conditions or concerns.
