Vaginal Yellow Discharge
Pelvis | Obstetrics and Gynaecology | Vaginal Yellow Discharge (Symptom)
Description
Vaginal discharge is a disturbance of the vaginal flora accompanied by mucosal irritation. An inflammation may be accompanied by profuse urination or infections caused by a lack of hygiene during menstruation. A foreign body inserted into the vagina, for example a spiral of contraception can irritate the lining and also cause leakage. In pathological cases, cervical mucus increases over the opening of the cervix and cause leaks. In addition to those listed above, secretions can be caused by malignant diseases of the vagina or uterus. Depending on the color and odor of the leakage, the physician can determine the cause of the symptom.
Causes
The cause is the lack of proper hygiene, or conversely, unnecessary vaginal washing with water or special solutions. Vaginal infections can be caused by bacteria or other pathogens, transmitted sexually. For this reason, the sexual partner should also be consulted by the doctor and, if necessary, a treatment should also be given.
The resistance to infection of the vagina decreases with age. Bloody leak may indicate inflammation of the fallopian tube, uterine prolapse or rupture. Miscarriage is also accompanied by bloody discharge. Because tumors can cause leaks, a patient should always consult the gynecologist. Yellow or yellowish white leaks accompanied by burning, itching or painful urination may indicate a sexual disease.
The white-yellow, yellow-green or brown vaginal discharge and the presence of irritated, red mucous membranes are sure signs of infection by the Trichomonas bacteria. Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted parasitic disease. Both men and women can get the disease. In women, the parasite affects the vagina, the urethra, the cervix, the bladder and the genital glands, such as Bartholins or Skenes glands (from the labia). ...
